Meet Talli

Talli L. Morgan is an indie author from upstate New York. They discovered their passion for storytelling as a teen and haven't stopped making things up since. Somehow, despite writing books during class, they earned their Bachelor's degree from Allegheny College, where they also spent 2 years as Managing Editor for the student-run Overkill literary magazine.Talli spends many of their days surrounded by books, whether at their library job or in local bookstores or in their own home, which is well on its way to becoming its own library. When they're not writing, Talli can be found drawing, reading, and thinking about writing.

Each issue of Fang Fictions adheres to a specific theme, genre, or medium of writing––and they're all about vampires! Submissions are welcome from any and all writers: indie, hybrid, trad, published, unpublished, agented, unagented.

Fang Fictions will accept submissions of short stories and illustrations for the Spring 2027 issue with the genre theme of romance. Send me your swooniest, steamiest, kicking-my-feet-and-gigglingest vampire romance stories!I am always eager to see:

Story Content Guidelines

Your story must fit the theme/genre of the issue AND the overall theme of the magazine. This is a vampire-focused magazine; your story must feature vampires or the concept of vampirism in a recognizable way.Your story should be a clean draft that has been self-edited at least once. Please do not submit a first/rough draft.Your story must be original and not previously published.Your story must not exceed 6000 words.Stories must be 100% human-authored, with absolutely no use of generative AI at any point in the process. I seriously can’t stress this enough. Let’s be absolutely clear here: “What if I just used it to brainstorm?” No. Still counts. “What if I used it to come up with names?” Nope. Still counts. “What If I just used it for concept art?” No. Absolutely still counts. Basically, if you have to ask whether some use of AI counts as using AI, then you’ve already broken this guideline. Don’t even bother.No unchecked bigotry, including but not limited to: racism, sexism, misogyny, homophobia, transphobia, ableism.Sexual content is allowed in moderation. This is not an erotica magazine, so it’s not the best place for “porn without plot,” but some sexual/suggestive elements are fine. The magazine is intended for a general adult audience.Please use content warnings where appropriate. Some things that would warrant a content warning are: excessive gore, physical and/or sexual assault*, explicit sexual content, terminal illness, harm to children or animals, body horror, violent death/murder, hate crimes and homophobia/transphobia, violent misogyny, racism. This is not an exhaustive list, but err on the side of caution if your story contains sensitive or potentially disturbing content.
*Please do not submit stories with on-page sexual assault.
Note: You don’t need to warn for general vampiric themes like blood, blood-drinking, or biting. Trust I’m aware of what I’m getting into in a vampire story.

Story Formatting Guidelines

12pt font, preferably a plain serif or sans-serif.“Story Title” by Author Name centered at the top of the first page. Ex.: “The Vampyre” by John Polidori
You do not need to include a cover page or your full address/contact info.Left-aligned, indented paragraphs.

Illustration Guidelines

Artists are encouraged to submit artwork of any medium, traditional or digital, for consideration for the front cover of this issue.The artwork must be your own original work, and not be copied, traced, or modified from someone else's work. Illustrations inspired by public domain artworks, such as famous/classical paintings, are fine.The artwork must not be created or edited with AI in any way.You may include a signature or watermark on the artwork if you wish, but know that if your work is accepted for the cover, it will need to be clean/free of watermarks.Suggestive artwork is fine, but please no nudity or explicit content.Mild gore and blood are fine. It's vampires; there's going to be blood.

Good to Know

If accepted, you will be asked to agree to a 5-month exclusivity period during which your work may not be queried or published outside of Fang Fictions. After the 5 months has passed, you may publish your story wherever you wish, following other publications' exclusivity terms.I retain the right to reject submissions for any reason. Rejections will not include any critique or in-depth explanation. Please do not request this should you receive a pass.Each issue of Fang Fictions will have a maximum of 10 stories.Only 1 artwork will be accepted for the cover.

Submissions will be managed with a Tally form. This ensures that all pertinent information is submitted with your work (including your work itself!). It will not require you to create an account.The following information will be required in order to submit the form, so please have it ready:
